Why Did the Deer Cross the Road?

To think that a deer a road has traversed

has it all backwards, 

upside down, reversed

Just as the notion renowned 

that white men own this land,

when 

for millennia 

Others loved here first.

We have robbed and raped

Fracked and plundered

until our shorelines

are daily 

sinking down under.

What have we gained 

below or above

but a desti…
