Double Whammy

When I was sixteen

in a restaurant I worked

for Owner Sam who was

completely a jerk.

My dishwashing job’s

only saving grace

was Myra the cook

with a gentle black face.

Just not enough purchased for all

the cups ordered of coffee and tea

But when clean saucers ran out,

Sam always blamed me.
