Your Legacy of Freedom

Splendiferous colors

shortened days

as we seek cozy 

for our weekend ways.

Spooky funs’ trickiness with 

all manner of treats

Costumes made from nothing

For identity bluffing

Thin spaces on this hallowed night

allow for more than other-worldly flight

One on which we 

and our ancestral spirits 

could up meet.

With only five days before the election 

with the most important selection

of a president who has

for a lifetime

been the champion of the

Ninety-Nine Percenters

like you and like me.

For you who believe voicing

your displeasure

with whatever 

by not voting or writing in a name 

of Disney Mouse fame

please help me understand-

How does shirking your civic duty

help your friends’ future

or that of your Grands?

When

Your vote within the current system is

the only way

To assure that freedom and democracy 

for all will be preserved beyond election day?

Your ancestors fought hard for

the freedoms you’ve got!
