Clearing the Air
A clearing gets created in many different ways
There are those birthed by fire, wind or man-made
The question is, does the how of a clearing's creation really matter?
How might it strengthen
or shatter
its residents?
Could its creation mean the
end of their days?
Is it of consequence that the hums
in the clearing of a high tension power line
Dumbs
a certain bird’s ability
in the edge trees
To tease
out from that
hum
the tune of her potential one-and- only
Which leaves her
not just un-pleasured and lonely
but with a long-term effect about which we are reluctant to think:
Yet another species diminished or even gone
Extinct
"Clean energy" like wind or solar power
Still need transmission lines
to get it from one place to another
Which means more humming towers
And thus fewer
lush bowers
Is the what for
and way then
in which a clearing is made important?
Though we may believe so
Clearly, there are no easy answers
As forward we go
Always for you,
M.A. Hastings
