Ten large alligators are sprawled out in various directions along a mud shore.  There are flax colored weeds and grasses growing behind them.  There is a channel of brown water in between the mud shore and its opposite side that is covered in bright green vegetation.

Ancients Rule

We have not shores hemmed by sand

Yet giant sunbathers crowd this land.

Ancient tales their flesh tells

of lesser creatures

dragged to their hell.

Statues still

Comatose sleeping

Silent death knell

of lightning creeping.

Infinitely stoking our fascination

As we trespass on

the gators’ nation.
